Exciting Updates
Happy May! WWJD Water Wells has had some exciting developments for the first part of 2025. We just received our 501C3 status (hooray!) and after a 4 week visit to Uganda in February God continues to open doors and provide direction and connections for advancing the ministry and prepare us to begin drilling in Uganda in 2025.
While there I meet up with Tyson, an IMB missionary in Arua, Uganda who had a drilling rig which was no longer being used, and thanks to the generous donations from friends and family WWJD is now the proud owner of a LoneStar LS200HT drilling rig (see below pic). We were able to purchase this rig for about half of its actual cost and the deal also included a lot of extra supplies and tools needed for drilling a well. This is a Mud rotary rig capable of drilling boreholes through most rock formations up to 90 meters deep. The extra blessing here is that the rig is already in Uganda and located relatively close to the district we believe God is directing us to begin drilling in.
I also met with our mission partner Kenneth, at Eden Mission and we were able to discuss and come up with a basic memorandum of understanding that lays out basics of how WWJD will fit into their ministry program which has been mistering to families in Uganda and surrounding countries for 10+ years. As of our latest meeting, we feel God is leading us to start our drilling ministry in the Koboko district, which is located in the north west corner of Uganda that borders the Congo and South Sudan also known the West Nile area.
The final part of the trip allowed me to meet up and travel with the Texans and Ugandans on Mission team who have been drilling in Uganda for many years and have a vast amount of knowledge and experience. They have graciously offered to help us locate and train the local Ugandans who will be working with me, drilling and conducting other ministry related duties.
Now that we have received official confirmation of our 501C3 from the IRS so WWJD Water Wells is now recognized as a tax-exempt non-profit and all donations are tax deductible. Praise the Lord! With that said you will notice our giving tab has changed, so now all donations made through the link will be deposited into a WWJD Water Well bank account. Thank you to my amazing daughter who helped me set that up. Donations can still be made through Rush Creek Church, to do that you will need to go to the church’s web page and click on the local & global mission/mission trip listing link. Feel free to ask if you have questions about this!
What’s next
I am continuing to pray that God will direct us in purchasing a vehicle needed to pull the rig and transport supplies and personnel around Uganda. I feel a Toyota Land Cruiser Quad Cab is our best option, but as of this writing God has yet to open that door. Please be praying for the acquisition of this essential piece of equipment.
I believe God has directed us to one of the 2 local Ugandans to train and hire and I will be headed back to Uganda the last 2 weeks of May to interview him and work on the training process/implementation. I will also be visiting our potential drill sites in Kuboko on that visit.
As God’s timing/provision permits I believe a 2–3-month trip in Aug-Oct to begin drilling and advancing His Kingdom is a very real possibility.
Your impact
As we move into the final stages of preparation to begin providing clean water and sharing the gospel in Uganda by the end of this year, your continued prayers for wisdom and direction are very much needed and appreciated. As I sit and dwell on what God has done to get our ministry to this point, I have a peace and confidence which can only be from Him and your prayers that the path I am on is one that He has chosen for me in this season of my life.
With that said, God along with friends and family have encouraged me to make our financial needs known so those who are able can make wise decisions on how to best donate to the ministry.
As stated earlier, our biggest immediate need is the purchase of a vehicle. After traveling in the area and talking with other drilling and mission partners I feel the best vehicle as I have mentioned would be a Toyota Land Cruiser Quad cab. The cost of this vehicle will vary depending on if we go with a used one in reasonable condition which is falling in the $42K range or decide to order a new one which my connections over there tell me would be in the $57K range. This is a large investment, but one I am confident God will provide for in his timing.
The 2nd need is to hire 2 local Ugandans and train them in drilling and ministry duties. At this time, I am estimating the combined salaries and benefits for both persons will be around $17K per year. We have one person in mind who we believe is a great fit for the position and are praying God will direct us to the 2nd soon. We would like to begin their training by June if possible.
If you feel led to donate to these needs, click here or go to the “Give” tab on my main webpage and you will be directed how to make a one time or recuring financial contribution. All donations are tax deductible.
Trusting in the Philippians 1:6 promise that He who has started a good work in us will carry it on to completion.
Faith Hope and Love
